Position Overview

Leads the implementation of cloud and enterprise solutions, standards, and processes as well as works across engineering teams to identify, define, and manage project milestones. Uses fundamental engineering concepts, practices, and procedures to analyze operational data/methods, identify performance improvement opportunities, and/or implement technology systems that meet business objectives. Researches, designs, develops, deploys, and/or supports new and current technology solutions.

Responsibilities

1. Works with project teams to design and implement secure cloud workload solutions, ensuring all implemented projects meet best practice security guidelines.

2. Designs, implements, and supports new cloud environment and existing enterprise infrastructure.

3. Evaluates existing technology to identify and design future solutions and improvement opportunities.

4. Deploy and maintain logical and physical architectures as well as documenting test plans, risk assessments, and other documents to ensure sound architectures that meet client needs.

5. Performs requirements development, analysis, allocation, review, tracing, and validation.

6. Assists in monitoring cloud and enterprise performance along with providing all necessary reporting analysis.

7. Assists in investigations of anomalies/outages to determine root cause, steps to reproduce, and solutions options. 8. Leads ITIL (Information Technology Information Library) problem management and resolution in the support of deployed technology and acts as subject matter expert on escalated production outages.

9. Assists with internal and external business partners to plan, design, implement, and satisfy IT project requirements for new technology initiatives.

10. Participates in the development of accurate statements of work for outside vendors and financial justification analysis.

11. Participate in security compliance efforts (PCI DSS, SOX). Support on-premise virtual and physical workloads including VMWare, Windows, and Linux

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in science, math, engineering, or information technology required and 6+ years of experience working in a system engineering role preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Software Engineering preferred
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or equivalent Cloud Provider certifications Required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Computer skills with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) Proficiency in Microsoft Visio and Office product suites.
  • Verbal, written and presentation communication skills necessary to communicate with all levels of management and cross functional teams.
  • Knowledge and skill to summarize and interpret data and draw conclusions
  • Time management and organizational skills as well as ability to work on multiple projects
  • System engineering/analytical/problem solving skills.
  • Industry Expertise in contemporary, emerging, and cloud workload technologies including but not limited to the following: Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), VMWare, Windows, Linux, Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), and TCP/IP.
  • Ability to work independently as well as lead cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to evaluate Payment Card Industry (PCI) requirements and recommend compliant cloud workload designs.
  • Working knowledge of networking, Kubernetes, and databases (SQL, DB2) a plus.
