Position Overview

Under general direction, assist in the development and administration of TruGreen benefit programs.  Consults with and advises employees on eligibility for insurance, hospitalization and other benefits including amounts of coverage and claims procedures.  Also is the primary contact for leave of absence issues for internal associates and the third party vendor.  Maintains benefit records and prepares documents necessary for implementing benefit coverage.  Coordinates the administration of employees benefit programs such as basic and major medical coverage, dental insurance, group life insurance, pension plans, and other benefits.  Consults with and advises employees on eligibility, provisions, and other matters related to benefits.  Assists in the preparation of employee benefits booklets and other employee benefit communications.  Also assists with the management of third-party benefits administrators to ensure consistent and effective process delivery and issue resolution.  Performs data collection, analysis, and reporting in support of the plans and programs.


1.    Investigates and resolves questions regarding health and welfare benefit plans and makes independent judgment regarding final resolution

2.    Leads the effective administration of the leave of absence process and investigate issues between associates and the vendor for process improvement and data accuracy

3.    Maintains records of problem issues and resolutions, coordinates communication of problem resolution to all involved parties

4.    Coordinates with administration service provider and all plan administrators on resolution of benefit issues 

5.    Attends related meetings

6.    Responsible for routine and ad hoc reporting and analysis as required: including quarterly experience, claims analysis, financial reporting and annual enrollment reporting

7.    Ensures all benefit plans are appropriately administered and maintains compliance with applicable laws

8.    Reviews related compliance documentation and ensures effective implementation among the plans managed

9.    Provides customer service to associates and ensures that inquiries and issues are resolved

10.   Serves as contact for administration service provider call center for escalated issues

11.   Assists in the preparation and review of communication materials

12.   Coordinates records management.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience in benefit administration or related field required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of laws applicable to various types of health, welfare, and retirement plans
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal laws and regulations:  ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, etc.
  • Understanding of standard benefit concepts and practices
  • Ability to research and interpret legal language
  • Familiarity and comfort with third-party data feeds and benefits systems
  • Attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Ability to operate independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Computer skills with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
