Position Overview

The Social Media Community Specialist will assist in the growth of TruGreen’s social media presence. Responsible for social listening to identify emerging brand, industry, and general social trends. The community specialist amplifies & engages brand advocates and ensures proper follow-up with customer service requests. The community specialist infuses all social interactions with the voice and personality of TruGreen’s brand.


  • Embrace and shape the “voice” of TruGreen on social media
  • Build, listen to, and cultivate the online community across social media channels to engage and amplify brand promoters (comment on posts, request photos/comments/likes/shares)
  • Execute social media campaigns (e.g., giveaways, contests, Twitter parties, charity fundraisers)
  • Identify industry & brand discussions as they happen in real time; advise whether/how TruGreen participates in the conversation
  • Quickly identify consumer social trends & topics; advise whether/how TruGreen weighs in
  • Collaborate with other departments (PR/HR/Legal) to manage reputation and emerging brand threats, identify key players, coordinate actions, and escalate as needed
  • Partner with customer service teams on customer followup strategy, tools, and processes
  • Work closely with social content agency to coordinate campaigns, identify content opportunities, and achieve brand goals

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a marketing, communications, or business field and 2+ years of experience in social media marketing / Public Relations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must be self-motivated, have excellent writing & interpersonal communication skills and be willing to work flexible hours.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to identify and tell stories that resonate with the appropriate audiences
  • Organizational skills to execute complex, cross-team campaigns
  • Detail oriented, highly motivated with strong work ethic and quality orientation
  • Understanding of marketing functions and technologies
  • Familiarity with social listening and community management tools (e.g., BrandWatch, Cision, Sprinklr, Sprout, or Spreadfast)
  • Project management skills
  • Ability to hold vendors accountable
